Plein Air in West Marin

I had a great day painting yesterday in West Marin. I found this old tractor embedded in the ground outside an equally old barn. I set up, painted this sketch and the wind got a hold of it hence the realistic dirt. I'll wipe it off as soon as it dries ... oh the beauty of painting en plein air.

Last week I spent time painting in Montana at my friend Rachel's Ranch. It was wicked hot so I painted indoors during the heat of the day and ventured out at sunset which happened to be around 9:30p.

I took a bit of time off from daily painting to create a huge 6 x 8 foot painting of a boxing scene for a local restaurant. Now that it's finished I can resume working on smaller paintings on a daily basis. Here's my first one from Montana.
