I did this painting of one of my Mom's floral arrangements while visiting her in Marin. She has a talent for flower arranging which began with her job at the infamous Podesta Baldocchi florist in San Francisco on Grant Street. That's the flower shop Tippi Hedren stopped by in Hitchcock's movie "The Birds". I painted it specifically for the "Birthday" challenge on dailypaintworks.com. It was a challenge to paint a birthday wish to artist Carol Marine posted by her husband, David. Aaaawwww. Click here if you'd like to bid on this painting.
Last Sunday was my Mother's birthday. We spent the week hiking and painting in Marin along with on-going birthday meals. I had a hard time keeping up with her. Here are some of the highlights:

We experienced the fantastic recycled garbage sculptures of sea life at the Marine Mammel Center in Sausalito.
This is a painting from my NYC series. I'm on vacation for a week beginning tomorrow. I won't post during that time, but I will paint everyday and post next Tuesday. Click here to bid on this painting.
I've painted a series of small oil sketches of New York. I did this one a month ago. I'm posting it now because I'm having "camera issues" trying to get a decent shot of my daily paintings. This is a temporary snag as I get used to posting a painting a day.

This is the last of the finds at the antique warehouse. Most of it's junk. I loved the deep dark gray of this set of teacups. Click here to bid on this painting.
Finally, here's the duck decoy. Tomorrow is the last of the "antique-finds" series ... there's nothing else that I want to paint. It's all junk! Click here to bid on this painting.
I worked on this sailing painting today along with the duck decoy I promised, however, I didn't get a good photo of the decoy, so I will post it tomorrow. Meanwhile, enjoy time on the bay.
I tried a painting of an old duck decoy I found at the antique warehouse. The painting was a dud, so I scrapped it. I'm posting an older painting today while I try again on the decoy painting. I hope to post it tomorrow.
